Changes to SCBWI Singapore Leadership Arrangements
After five years of leadership, Ken Quek has announced his resignation as RA, in order to take on a new role as AFCC Liaison to SCBWI.
The current ARA, Catherine Carvell, has been appointed to take over his position as Regional Advisor of SCBWI Singapore, effective from 8th July 2015.
I’d like to thank everyone for making my 5 years as RA highly enjoyable. It has been very rewarding to recall our quiet beginnings in a dingy cafe with 5 members to more than 50 members today.
We really couldn’t have found a better person than Catherine to take over as RA, and I’m excited to see all her plans for SCBWI Singapore come to life.
I'll continue to be the AFCC Liaison to SCBWI.
Like Ken, Catherine Carvell has a wealth of SCBWI knowledge and is very much looking forward to her new role.
I joined SCBWI as an unpublished author in 2008, and since then this wonderful organisation has played a huge part in my life. Not only have they supported through my journey from aspiring writer to published children's book author, but I have also met some of the most wonderful, creative and generous people, many of whom have become friends for life.
I have learnt a lot about the children's book industry over the past seven years and look forward to building on the strong foundation I have inherited from Ken to provide exciting times ahead for published and pre-published authors and illustrators in Singapore.
